New Church Amsterdam - Morocco

The New Church Amsterdam

The exhibition is the start to Morocco/the Netherlands 2005, a year of events celebrating the 400 year relationship between the Netherlands and Morocco. The exhibition includes 300 masterpieces from Moroccan libraries and museums. The exhibits are hung on the high, white walls surrounding the church choir, creating the effect of a walk through a Moroccan medina. The size of the walls as well as that of other elements, like the large Moroccan tiled floor in the centre and the display of Moroccan lamps in the transept, maintain the relationship between the exhibition and the church.
